King Midget Model Series 1. years built 1947 - 1951 body is steel over a red oak frame. Engine is a 6.5 hp. Single cylinder. Leaf spring suspension front & rear. Length 7'10" Width 3' 10". Brake IS A 5'' drum. Back in 1946, Claude Dry & Dale Orcutt. Who Were Civil Air Patrol Pilots during W W 2, associated to develop an inexpensive, affordable little car using a Centrifugal-Clutch, automatic transmission of there own design. Conceived to be powered by a single cylinder engine, driven by a single wheel (to avoid the need for a differential), It was able to carry just one passenger. The car was designed using aircraft lightening techniques and unit body construction in order to make it strong and lightweight. The first Micro Car sold by The Midget Motors Supply (lately known as Midget Motors Manufacturing co. and finally as The Midget Motors Corporation) Had the name 'KING MIDGET'. The First series (model) Was Manufactured between the years 1946 & 1951.
